I checked out some podcasts from ABC radio. These are a great way to listen to a program you might otherwise miss. How useful are podcasts in the library? Hmm... it's late Friday afternoon...can't think...will get back to you on this...zzz

YouTube-the fun begins!

I've explored YouTube - so much to watch, so little time. Enjoy the Foo Fighters at the Big Day Out in 2000. Crowd surfing looks much more comfortable when you bring your inflatable (dinghy that is). Downloadable videos could be used in the library to create online tutorials where patrons can learn about Web 2.0 technology.

Venturing into Wiki world

I think Wikis could be very useful in public libraries. They are a great readers advisory tool as "What's a good book?" is the hardest question to answer because it's so subjective. I like how a readers advisory wiki can generate a community discussion about great reads. A wiki is also an ideal way for librarians all over the world to discuss best practice. My next task is to investigate how do you find a wiki on a particular topic or for a target audience eg. librarians interested in professional development.

Well folks I think I'm hooked on del.icio.us. I did indeed find some useful websites by looking at the sites of my fellow taggers.

Generally the tags are useful but being a librarian I couldn't help but think once or twice that perhaps a little more conformity in use of tags would be helpful.

I checked out one of the online library catalogues where they use tags. The cloud tags are a nice starting point if you don't know what you want to read. I think it might be useful to add genre tags to fiction. I found non-fiction was easier to find by searching the catalogue.

RSS feeds

These are definitely useful for keeping me up to date with various websites. Many of the websites I peruse still don't have RSS so I will have to receive some updates by email. Will be great when they are all RSS. In the meantime I will investigate using iGoogle also.
